Searching for a second opinion?
They say a man who has two watches never knows what time it really is.
However, when it comes to your health and well-being, it is essential that you are fully convinced of the accuracy of your diagnosis and the impactfulness of the recommended treatment. Patients often find themselves in a situation where they doubt their expert’s opinion. This is completely understandable and human. Our clinic is designed to give first and second opinions all in one place. Sounds controversial?
Not really. Despite the fact that we want to provide only the best for our guests utilizing all the knowledge and experience available, the fact remains that dentistry has progressed much faster in the last 10 years than our ability to actually acquire all of that knowledge and keep up with current trends and innovations. That is why we treat each guest in a therapeutic pair. One dentist with specific knowledge and experience may suggest a particular treatment option, and another one with a different professional background may propose something else. In this way, we can establish a much better diagnostic and therapeutic insight into the situation. With more complex cases where the interdisciplinary approach of several professionals is required, we always consult with other dentists and specialists, from orthodontists to dental surgeons.
For everyone who comes to us from another dentist’s or specialist’s office, a well-intentioned piece of advice: do not decide on any procedure that you are not completely sure about.
But when can you truly be certain about something? When you get the answers to: why, how, what, when and how much.

WHY is a certain type of treatment suggested? Meaning: are you certain you’ve received the correct diagnosis and suggested treatment?
HOW to find the right path from problem to solution?
WHAT procedures/materials will be used during treatment?
WHEN should treatment begin?
HOW MANY RESOURCES (time, money, support from others) will be required?
Getting a second opinion should not make you more confused and doubtful, rather it should serve to help you make your final decision. It is an opportunity to take control of your treatment process that should not be overlooked. A second opinion can offer deep insight into certain dental issues and requires a great deal of know-how from the dentist – more so than is usually required to make a primary diagnosis -, therefore it should not be equated with a free initial consultation which is available to everyone. A second opinion takes time, additional diagnostics and a great deal of knowledge and experience, and therefore sits at the top of the pyramid of dentistry, not the other way around.
If you would like to schedule an appointment for a second opinion at our clinic, you can reach us at info@medical-dentistry.com. Please also make sure to mention the purpose of your appointment, so we can prepare for your visit.
Never make a decision in a state of confusion.
